I just wanted to play some effin rainbow. Listen assholes. The the location I chose for my Xbox has nothing to do with the failure of the box, it ran perfectly well for the first 15months. MS has extended the warranties on for RROD issues to 3 years because its a DEFECT. If it was my fault it would have cost me 200 bucks to fix. The xbox does not vent by the holes tiny holes on top or bottom of the unit it vents through the large vents on the sides and rear. Dumb comments about my placement are being deleted, because you are an idiot.

This is how I fixed my RRoD. *WARNING* If you have not already voided your warranty, just send your xbox to microsoft and wait for it to get back! This video is for expired warranty or no warranty 360s ONLY.

For this repair you also need -Torx 8 Screwdriver/T8 -Torx 10 Screwdriver/T10 -A small flat screwdriver to open the back This repair will work on allmost all RROD's especially on the ones with 0102 0020 as secondary code. It CAN also fix the one red light in the right bottom with an error code on screen like "e74" but only if it's the GPU if it's the ANA or HANA chip it can't (unless you're lucky with overheating) I already fixed 12 xbox 360's like this but you have to use heatpaste because all things like that will make the fix permanent. Otherwise it will not last long, same thing when you don't overheat. Of course you can put alternative heatsyncs under the memory chips and tricks like that but it isn't the SOURCE of the problem, however it can be good to do. You can also do this without attaching the motherboard to the steel case, like explained. If you want to do that use screws with a flat top which doen't get smaller 10 mm long (without the top) don't put STEEL washers under the motherboard if you do this. Feel free to ask questions.

Fixing my Red Ring of Death error, on my Xbox 360. THIS VIDEO SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED AS A GUIDE!!!

I got an x360 on ebay for 30 bucks, 50 shipped. I figured "ahh why not see if I can get it going." It was an as is rrod. Turns out they left guitar hero 3 in the xbox lol. I tried many methods on fixing it. Finally I got it to boot. I got it to boot a few times. I should have let it cool down too it cause I tightend the gpu heatsink and boom, rrod all over again. Well looks like i have to do the heat gun again (reflow the gpu / align) or move the gpu a bit.

This will show you how to fix the RROD/3 red lights and most E74 errors. I got them from http://www.mcmaster.com/ and the part numbers are 91460A224 - Bolts 95610A160 - Nylon Washers 95610A160 - Steel Washers

WHY ME. Just to show you if it ain't broken don't fix it. my 360 worked for 2 1/2 years with out one tiny slowdown freeze burp nothing. then i had a friend say "let me fix your x-clamps for free then you won't have the rrod" and i was like well ok what will it hurt. ONLY EVERYTHING. the day after freeze freeze freeze. two weeks RROD. then i fixed it myself by instructions on internet and i added external fans. it was ok for 2 days then freeze freeze. RRO FREAKING D. so it will be on to ps2 games for a bit until i get a new one. since now i can't send it into microsoft to be fixed because the warrenty is VOID.

I've contracted the dreaded RROD and I'm clearing out all of my unused clips into one big collection. Enjoy!

Okay first off lemme start by saying that my xbox 360 didn't get the RROD from heat. It was more then likely a static discharge... if you don't know what it is don't worry about it... Tools for RROD Repair http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=599216 8 Machine Screws 16 Metal/Zinc Plated Washer 16 Nylon Washers [Video contains Home depot parts, and link contains lowes parts] ~Tools~ Multiple size flat head screwdrivers XCM Xbox 360 Opening tool Torx T8 & T10 screws/ bits Artic Silver 5 Thermal Compound Achool to remove old Thermal Compound Somebody to hold the xbox while inserting the washers ~How to remove the X clamp~ Lawdawng0931's Method was a real help except the fact that it didnt explain how to take off the x clamp very well. Even "fixyourownxbox" wasnt that good... So after a few careful experiments i found this great method... push a Flat head screwdriver AGAIN the screw, causing the opposite side of the x clamp to become loose and detach from the screw... Do that to 2 sides of the x clamp. The other 2 side should rather come off just with a little effort or you can try to pull it off.. Remebmer not to pull towards motherboard. Clean The Chips till they give a shiny finish... After that put just a dap of Artic silver on the 3 little chips. about the size of a Rice bean. Then take a sandwich bag or plastic food wrapping, and wrap it around your index finger.
