The MBT LAW - also known as the NLAW - is a man-portable, fire and forget, disposable weapon consisting of an anti-tank missile sealed within a launch tube. The MBT LAW has been designed to counter main battle tanks at short ranges as well as buildings, fortifications and non-armored vehicles. This weapon system is based on proven technologies from the Bill 2 anti-tank missile and AT4 CS lightweight anti-tank weapon. Like the AT4 CS, the MBT LAW weapon can be handled by a single soldier and launched from confined spaces making it highly suitable for urban warfare.

Demonstration of MBT-LAW. The Main Battle Tank and Light Armour Weapon (MBT LAW) is a disposable, man-portable short range fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile system. The MBT LAW was developed by Saab Bofors Dynamics, using technology derived from the Carl Gustav, BILL 2, and AT4 CS systems. It is a soft-launch system, allowing it to be used from enclosed spaces.

The Main Battle Tank and Light Armour Weapon, MBT LAW, developed by Saab Bofors Dynamics, was selected in May 2002 for the UK Army Next generation Light Anti-tank Weapon (NLAW). The portable, short range, fire-and-forget system will enter service in 2006 to replace the British Army's existing Insys LAW-80 system that is reaching the end of its operational life. The soldier can bring the missile system from the carry position to the firing position and make it ready to fire in less than 5 seconds. The soldier discards the launcher after firing and can retain the night sight if needed. The 115/150mm calibre launcher is of composite material construction. The launcher is fitted with the gunner's optical sight, a foldaway launch device, handles and firing mechanism, battery package, carrying straps and a firing support. A mounting rail attached to the launcher is for attaching any night sight.
