Rechtsanwalt Markus Roscher (FDP-Mitglied) am 11.02.2007 in der ARD-Sendung "Sabine Christiansen" zur Frage der Besteuerung von Erbschaftsvermögen. Als er (www.markus-roscher.de) seine Auffassung kundtut, dass er Erbschaftssteuer für staatlichen Diebstahl hält, fällt ihm der Linkspolitiker Oskar Lafontaine ins Wort. As a Voice Actor Don was a great inspiration and still is today. Making you see what can be if you believe in what you do. Don LaFontaine, the man who popularized the catch phrase "In a world where..." and lent his voice to thousands of movie trailers, has died. He was 68. LaFontaine died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from complications in the treatment of an ongoing illness, said Vanessa Gilbert, his agent. LaFontaine made more than 5,000 trailers in his 33-year career while working for the top studios and television networks. In a rare on-screen appearance in 2006, he parodied himself on a series of national television commercials for a car insurance company where he played himself telling a customer, "In a world where both of our cars were totally under water..." In an interview last year, LaFontaine explained the strategy behind the phrase. "We have to very rapidly establish the world we are transporting them to," he said of his viewers. "That's very easily done by saying, `In a world where ... violence rules.' `In a world where ... men are slaves and women are the conquerors.' You very rapidly set the scene." LaFontaine insisted he never cared that no one knew his name or his face, though everyone knew his voice. LaFontaine went on to work in the promo industry in the early 1960s. As an audio engineer, he produced radio spots for movies with producer Floyd Peterson. When an announcer didn't show up for a recording session in 1965, LaFontaine voiced his first narration, a promo for the film, "Gunfighters of Casa Grande." The client, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, liked his performance. LaFontaine remained active until recently, averaging seven to 10 voiceover sessions a day. He worked from a home studio his wife nicknamed "The Hole," where his fax machine delivered scripts. LaFontaine is survived by his wife, the singer and actress Nita Whitaker, and three daughters. His funeral arrangements were pending.

Zur Belebung der Konjunktur müssen endlich Renten, Löhne und Hartz-IV-Sätze erhöht sowie der Mindestlohn eingeführt werden.

A one minute tribute video. Complete silence didn't seem appropriate to acknowledge the passing of a man who can be heard on this very channel via his amazing voice-over work. I chose a few brief snippets of Don's voice. At the beginning is a quick cut of his interview on Dateline in 2000 and at the very end... they way I'd like to think Don would have ended this video tribute. On a personal note: Those of us who take our trailers and advertising seriously knew about Don and the other members of "The Big Five" years before the Geico car insurance ads put a face to the voice of Don Lafontaine. Don's voice helped solidify all the memories we had as kids, and into adulthood, of the movie trailers he worked on. He has literally inspired this YT channel into being with over 5,000 movie trailer voice-overs during his career. Even if your not familiar with the name..you have surely heard his work right here on Drive-In Of The Damned, or at your local movie theater, throughout his amazing career. Po propuštění si našel práci v National Recording Studios zvukař. Později v roce 1962 byl přeložen do k producentovi Floyd L. Petersonovi, který vytvořil radio reklamu pro film Dr. Strangelove. Během let se společnost Floyd L. Peterson Inc. zaměřila i na reklamu ve filmovém průmyslu. LaFontaine a Peterson byli první, kdo vymyslel fráze, které stále domunují ve filmových trailerech; In a world, A one-man army, No where to run, no where to hide and no way out atd. Největší zlom nastal v roce 1965, kdy vytvořili rádiovou upoutávku na film Gunfighters Of Casa Grande (viz. obrázek) pro společnost Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Těm se tak líbila, že po dalších 16 let namluvil tisíce spotů a stovky trailerů. V roce 1976 se osamostatnil a založil vlastní produkční společnost - Don LaFontaine Associates. Jeho první zakázkou byl The Godfather, Part II. V roce 1978 ho požádali, zda by nespolupracoval s Paramount Pictures. Během tří let se mu začalo říkat Voice (Hlas) Paramountu. V roce 1980 byl jmenován více prezidentem společnosti, ale nezapomněl na svoji produční práci. Paramount opustil v roce 1981 a přestěhoval jse z New Yorku do Los Angeles, opět znovu jako nezávislý produkční. Po dalších 25 let se LaFontaine vyšplhal na pozici krále voice-overů King of Voice-overs. Prvního září však přišla nečekaná zpráva o jeho smrti. Nastal u něj náhlý pneumotorax, tedy proniknutí vzduchu do pleurální dutiny, což je malý podtlakovaný prostor v okolí plic.
